Frequently asked questions — Kalambrestudio Bilbao

What is an integrated creative studio and which disciplines does it bring together?

An integrated creative studio brings web design and development, art direction, brand identity, photography and audiovisual production together under one workflow, based in Bilbao. Running every discipline within a single team removes handovers between vendors and guarantees visual and technical consistency from start to finish.

Where is the studio located and which areas do you cover?

The physical studio is in Bilbao (Bizkaia), with over 100 m² of photography set and an editing suite. We regularly work in Bilbao, Irún, Donostia-San Sebastián and across the Basque Country, and remotely for web and brand projects throughout the rest of Spain.

Do you work with companies, freelancers or also with individuals?

We work with companies, SMEs, freelancers, local businesses and cultural projects. The scope is sized to goals and budget, from a one-off identity to a complete brand system with a website, audiovisual content and printed material.

Can I hire a single service, or only full projects?

Both. You can hire a standalone service — for instance just web design, a photo session or a video — or a turnkey project covering strategy, identity, development, content and physical production, delivered ready to publish.

What technology do you build websites with?

We build custom sites prioritising static rendering and build-time generation (SSG) for maximum speed and stability. We use semantic HTML, modern CSS and minimal JavaScript, deployed on CDN infrastructure. The result is a fast, maintainable website that is easy to index.

Are your websites optimised for Core Web Vitals?

Yes. We optimise Google's page experience metrics — LCP, CLS and INP — by serving images in WebP/AVIF at responsive sizes, lazy-loading non-critical resources, preloading fonts with proper font-display, and inlining critical CSS. The goal is high, consistent performance on mobile and desktop.

What exactly does technical SEO for a website include?

It includes clean, canonical URL architecture, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, per-page metadata (title, description, Open Graph and Twitter Card), schema.org structured data (Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList and, where relevant, VideoObject or FAQPage), a semantic heading hierarchy and crawl-optimised performance.

Are the websites responsive and accessible?

Yes. Design is responsive by default (mobile-first) and we apply WCAG accessibility criteria: sufficient contrast, keyboard navigation, alternative text on images, ARIA labels where appropriate and semantic structure. An accessible website also improves indexing and reach.

Do you offer a CMS so the client can edit their own content?

Depending on the project we integrate a headless CMS or custom panels so the client can update copy, images or posts without touching code. For sites with stable content we deliver the optimised website and handle occasional updates ourselves.

How long does a website take to deliver?

A landing page or corporate website is usually delivered in 2 to 4 weeks; projects with catalogues, dynamic portfolios or specific integrations take longer. A unified pipeline — design, content and development in the same team — shortens time-to-market compared with coordinating several vendors.

Do you include hosting, domain and maintenance?

We advise on and set up the domain and deployment on high-performance infrastructure (CDN with HTTPS and cache headers), and offer maintenance plans covering updates, backups, monitoring and continuous performance and SEO improvements.

Can you migrate an existing website without losing SEO rankings?

Yes. In a migration we map the old URLs, apply 301 redirects to the new ones, preserve or improve metadata and structure, and verify indexing after launch to protect earned authority and avoid traffic drops.

Do you set the website up for analytics and results measurement?

We integrate web analytics and conversion events to measure traffic, sources, behaviour and goals (forms, calls, clicks). Measurement lets us iterate on real data and justify design and content decisions with metrics rather than intuition.

What kinds of professional photography do you offer?

Corporate and team photography, product, premises, editorial and brand photography. We shoot in our own studio in Bilbao with controlled lighting and also on location, adapting the visual style to the client's identity.

What does the technical workflow of a photo session look like?

We shoot in RAW for maximum editing latitude, apply colour profiling and colour management, and retouch non-destructively. Final files are delivered optimised for the web (WebP/JPEG at the right resolution) and in high resolution for print (TIFF/JPEG).

In which formats and resolutions do you deliver photographs?

Each image is delivered two ways: a lightweight version optimised for web and social media, and a high-resolution version in the appropriate colour space for print. We can adapt crops and aspect ratios to every medium (feed, stories, catalogue, posters).

What video production do you offer?

Corporate, brand and product video, social media content and cinematic pieces. We cover the whole process: scripting and pre-production, shooting, direction, editing, colour grading and sound post-production.

In which formats and resolutions do you deliver video?

We deliver H.264/H.265 (MP4) at 1080p or 4K depending on use, with archive masters and compressed versions for the web. We produce vertical 9:16 clips for stories and reels, square 1:1 and horizontal 16:9, each encoded optimally for its platform.

Do you optimise videos so the website stays fast?

Yes. We trim clips to their actual content, compress them with efficient codecs and lazy-load them (only when they enter the viewport), with a preload poster. Playback stays smooth without hurting site speed or Core Web Vitals.

Can video and photography be shot at your studio?

Yes. Our Bilbao set is equipped for photo sessions and video shoots with controlled lighting, backdrops and sound, which reduces surprises and speeds up production compared with shooting in uncontrolled outdoor locations.

What does a brand identity project include?

We build a complete identity system: logo and variants, colour palette, typography, grid, iconography, photographic treatment and usage rules. We deliver a brand manual that ensures consistent application across any digital or physical medium.

Do you design identities for both digital and physical applications?

Yes. We design scalable systems that work equally well on the web, social media, stationery, packaging, posters and signage. Defining the rules from the start avoids inconsistencies and lets the brand roll out to new media without redesigning.

Can you redesign (rebrand) an existing brand?

Yes. We start with an audit of the current identity and how it is perceived, keep the recognisable brand equity and modernise the visual system. The rebrand comes with a transition guide to apply the change in an orderly way.

Do you do graphic design and professional printing?

Yes. We design and produce business cards, catalogues, brochures, posters, banners, packaging and corporate stationery. We prepare print-ready artwork in CMYK with bleeds and marks, and manage ICC colour profiles and finishes with professional printers.

Do you offer signage and wayfinding?

Yes. We produce signage for shopfronts, vehicles, façades and interior wayfinding, adapting the design to each material and mounting system. We coordinate design, production and installation to hand over the finished piece.

Do you design packaging and labels?

Yes. We design packaging and labelling with attention to structure, legibility, applicable regulations and shelf impact. Files are prepared with die-cuts and bleeds, ready for production.

Do you also handle physical production, not just design?

Yes. Beyond design we manage production and printing with trusted suppliers, checking colour proofs and finishes, and deliver the finished material ready for use or installation.

What is your work process like?

We work in iterative phases: briefing and goals, research and concept, direction proposal, development and production, scoped revision rounds and final delivery. Communication is direct and continuous, with validation points at each phase to avoid drift.

How is a project quote calculated?

The quote is defined by scope, deliverables and technical complexity, not a generic flat rate. After a briefing we deliver a fixed, itemised proposal so you know exactly what is included and what results to expect.

Who owns the files and the final design?

The client receives the final deliverables and the agreed usage rights over the work. We define the scope of the licence in writing (media, duration and territory) so ownership and usage are clear from the start.

Do you hand over editable source files?

We deliver the final formats needed for each use and, as agreed, the editable source files. We document versions and fonts so the project remains maintainable and extendable in the future.

What is the advantage of an integrated studio over multiple vendors?

Centralising design, development, photography, video and print in one team guarantees brand consistency, cuts coordination time, avoids incompatibilities between pieces and gives you a single point of contact responsible for the overall result.

Do you take on urgent projects or tight deadlines?

Yes. Our unified workflow and the team's availability let us compress timelines for campaigns or launches, prioritising critical deliverables without sacrificing the technical quality control of each piece.

Why choose an integrated creative studio in Bilbao, Irún or Donostia?

Because it combines art-direction judgement with technical depth in web, audiovisual and print, and delivers it as a coherent, measurable system. One studio for a company's entire image in Bilbao, Irún, Donostia and the Basque Country, without splitting the project across agencies.

How do we start a project?

With an initial contact and a short briefing to understand goals, timelines and budget. From there we prepare a detailed proposal. You can reach us by email, phone or WhatsApp to schedule that first conversation.
